Sacramento River Salmon Fishing will be open in 2009 from November 16th through the end of December from Red Bluff to Colusa. They actually shortened the season over last year by 2 weeks. This time of year is not known for large numbers of fish being caught, but the late fall King Salmon that we catch are quality fish and usaually larger in size. This is the time of the year when the monsters show up! Typically the boat traffic is minimal which makes for a relaxing day on the river. Last year we had some great days even with the lower than average flows. Book early to get the date you want!! Being such a short season, this will fill up fast. Take care and thanks again to all for your continued support. |

Sacramento River Salmon Fishing ended today and we went out with a bang. After a foggy, freezing cold morning, Randy Cunningham of Chico CA caught a dime bright 33lb buck. The fish took a K16 Kwik Fish and after about an honest 20 minute battle the fish was in the net. It still had scales on it!! We then hooked into and landed a 25lb river anchor with a nice new plug attached to it! The fate of next year remains to be seen, but early indications are not good for a Salmon season. Thanks to all for your continued support and have a safe and happy New Year!! |

Sacramento River Salmon Fishing has continued to be tough. The water is as low as I've ever seen it. There are some decent reports from the Teasdale area from time to time, but not much happening in our neck of the woods. You really have to be in the right place at the right time to get bit. There are just not many fish moving through right now. The last few times I have been out we have seen people digging boats off gravel bars so be CAREFUL!! We are expecting some rain at the end of next week and should that happen fishing will improve. |

Sacramento River Salmon Fishing Report- This is more of a story than a report. I just received these photos of an absolute monster King Salmon found dead in Battle Creek just below the Coleman fish hatchery. The fish was 4 1/4ft long and weighed 85lbs dead. It would've broken the state record if it would've been caught alive. They guessed it to have weighed in the 90's and the Sacramento River record is 88lbs. In fact it may have been the largest Salmon ever caught in the country, with that record at 97lbs!! I put the photos in the photo gallery for you to see. Fish on!!! |

Sacramento River Salmon Fishing opened this weekend. After a long wait, Salmon anglers were finally able to get out and fish for King Salmon. The weather was less than favorable on Saturday. I was unable to fish that day and from what I heard, I did not miss much. One fish out of close to forty boats at Hamilton City!! Not to mention it was cold, windy and raining. On Sunday I fished with a group from Santa Rosa and we had a great time. The weather was almost perfect (just a little windy) and we about had the river to ourselves. We did manage to land a beautiful 32lb male that was very bright. Early November is not typically known for being the prime time to fish for late fall king salmon so landing the one we did just added to a great day. As we get later into November and into December, the fishing for late fall Kings will typically improve. Take care and enjoy the short season we have!! |

Sacramento River Salmon Fishing sets to open November 1st in the Chico area. This time of year usually means low flows, crowds and temperatures. This year with the only stretch of the Sacramento River open in California to Salmon fishing being from Red Bluff to Knights Landing, no one knows what to expect. Fishing last year in December was very good. If we get the much needed rain this year, provided the river is not "blown out", the fishing should again prove to be outstanding. Watch conditions and reports for the latest news on Sacramento River King Salmon fishing. Take care. |

Sacramento River Fishing reports good Striper fishing up and down the river right now. Pretty much anywhere you put in, there are some fish to be caught. Reports of some BIG 50lb+ fish being caught and released. Salmon season is set to open on November 1 and will run through December 31st and should be decent fishing provided the river is not over crowded and the weather cooperates. The only stretch to remain open is from Red Bluff Diversion Dam to Knights Landing. |

Sacramento River Salmon Fishing- Sorry for the lack of reports. We have been awaiting the final decision for our 2008 Salmon season. The decision came down last week and they have shortened both the limits and season for us. They completely shut down the Feather and American Rivers for Salmon. The Sacramento River Salmon season will run from November 1st through December 31st and each person will be allowed 1 fish per day. The only section of the Sacramento River that can be fished for Salmon during this time is from Knights Landing north to the Red Bluff Diversion Dam. Stripers were up and down this year, most action was south of Grimes. The Shad are already showing up and should be in full swing shortly. Lake Oroville Bass fishing is consistent for Bass using reaction baits. The Coho fishing is also doing well either mooching or trolling. Thanks for checking in and take care. |

Sacramento River Salmon Fishing has actually been pretty good considering the way this season has been going. I have not been out as much as I would like, but have some reliable sources that are catching fish. We actually caught a nice 21 lb male last outing and missed another. We also saw a few fish rolling and a few more caught as well. Best bet has been a wrapped Flat Fish. Get out there before this next storm if possible because that may blow out the river until the end of the season. If the river does come back into shape before the 1st, it may actually be really good fishing until the end of the season. Take care. |
