Fishing continues to improve on the Sacramento River. We fished the Colusa area for Stripers and caught serveral schoolie size fish in the 3-5 lb range. We also caught a 50" Sturgeon. The reports from Colusa to Chico are all good and getting better.

5-1-06

We have started catching Stripers on the Sacramento River!! The fishing has not been red hot, but the boat traffic is light and there are fish in the system. The water still needs to clear up some before the fishing busts wide open. The water temp is on the rise with the change in weather and reduced flows so this could be a fast and furious season. We'll see.

April 28, 2006

Fished the Colusa area for Stripers this week. The Sacramento River is still high and muddy and made for some tough fishing. The river should clear up in the next week and rumors are that they will be cutting the flows out of Keswick wich should also help.

April 17, 2006

The weather is finally cooperating and the Sacramento River is coming into shape. The Stripers should already be here and we will begin fishing in the next few days. With continued good weather and the warming of the water, the fishing should be wide open in the next couple of weeks.

April 10, 2006

The River is just starting to become fishable and some Stripers are already being caught but forecasters are predicting a pretty good storm tomorrow that will blow the Sacramento River out once again. The good news is after that storm, there is a good weather pattern that should allow for much better fishing conditions.

April 4, 2006

The Sacramento River continues to be unfishable at near flood stage due the the heavy rains. We had 22 days of rain in March!! The Stripers should be here in good numbers once the river comes into shape and the fishing should be wide open.

March 6, 2006

The Sacramento River is currently blown out due to heavy rains. Once it settles back down we should be in for some good Sturgeon fishing (although the slot limit has been reduced by the DFG to 46"-56") There is also a good chance that some Stripers will be in the system after all this high water. Stay tuned.
