Sacramento River Salmon fishing has remained unchanged. Sorry for the lack of reports, but there has not been much to talk about. It appears the late season push we had all hoped for is not developing. The river is extremely low right now. There is a good storm forecasted for next week and if it dumps as much rain as the weather man predicts, we might get enough water to get a good push of fish into the system. Right now there are fish in the system just not many. Now through the end of the season is when the big boys usually show up and more often than not, the biggest fish of the year are caught during this time. If you have the patience and are willing to put in the time, this is the time for the wall hanger!! Especially this year as the fish have been big overall!! |

Sacramento River Salmon Fishing has remained consistent. Consistently tough!! Again some days the fish seem to be biting better than others, but the bottom line is this is a year in which we are selling the possibility of catching huge fish over catching high numbers. The fish we are catching are on the average above 20lbs and many in the 30 and 40lb range! There were also some beautiful fresh fish that moved into the system this past week, some with scales! That is a great sign. Today we also landed another 6-7 ft Green Sturgeon which was quickly released and I was able to get a couple of photos of this one! I have had 2 cancellations for September and now have openings on the 26th and 27th. Call me if you're interested in either of those days. Call me at either (530) 898-8670 or (530) 592-8075. 26th has booked, 27th is only day left in September... |

Sacramento River Salmon fishing has remained tough this last week or so. Some days are better than others, but bottom line is tough fishing! There are promising reports from the bay once again and that could turn things around. There was a couple of days that there seemed to be lots of fish in the system, just not a lot of biters and there were also days where it was tough to find any large concentrations of fish? Guess that's why it's called fishing! I will be on the Klamath at the beginning of this week with veteran guide Frank Duarte who was kind enough to offer to show me the ropes in that fishery. I may be able to start offering trips on the Lower Klamath river should the Sacramento River not take off!! I will keep you all posted. I also will be offering drift boat trips for anglers on the upper Klamath in October. This is a quantity vs quality fishery. Large numbers of fish are caught here with ease, but the fish are nearing the end of the line so there is a mix of Salmon that can be eaten and fish that we simply need to be put back in the water!! The limit is 2 Adults, 1 Jack and 1 hatchery Steelhead which is a generous take for 1 day of fishing!! |

Sacramento River Salmon Fishing continued to produce fish for anglers willing to put in the time and effort. Some days are producing better than others. The fish are still large and bright, just not a lot of them out there right now. Biggest fish of the week was a 47lb male. We did catch and release a 5-6 foot green Sturgeon as well! There are rumors of fish just south of Chico making their way through the system so there is promising news. Still some prime September and October dates available so call to book your trip. Sacramento River Salmon Fishing has finally caught some steam. There are lots of fish in the system and they are biting! We are averaging a little under a fish per rod this week. The fish are beautiful!! This is definately a big fish year! We lost one today that was well over 40lbs (yes the one that got away, but we did get a couple of good looks at him!) Most fish this year are averaging around 20-25lbs with over 30's not uncommon. Look for things to catch some steam in the weeks to come as numbers are up and flows are down so these fish should start holding. I still have prime dates available, call to get in on the action!! (530) 898-8670 or (530) 592-8075. |

Sacramento River Salmon Fishing was still a challenge last week. We caught from 1-3 fish a day, (one day nothing) but had to work for them. We caught fish on both plugs and roe. The fish we are catching are absolutely beautiful. Many are covering the bottom of the boat with scales! Two fish over 30 lbs last week and the rest averaged about 20 lbs. Although the fishing is spotty, the boat traffic is next to nothing. One day we saw only one other boat! Look for things to start to catch some steam in the following weeks as we are finally getting some good King Salmon fishing reports from the bay! Still some prime dates available, call to book your trip (530) 898-8670 or (530) 592-8075. |

Sacramento River Salmon Fishing has slowed a bit after a great opener. There are beautiful big bright fish in the river, just not a lot of them. Some days we are getting bit, and some days not, you just have to be in the right place at the right time during this early part of the run especially. We caught a beautiful 38lb chrome rocket this morning!! What a fish! From the sounds of things, this is going to be a big fish year. The Feather continues to struggle with warm water temps forcing fish straight through to the hatchery, even with the good flows? Stay tuned as we are now exclusively fishing the Sacramento River for King Salmon. I still have some prime dates available so don't wait until the hot fishing reports or it may be too late. Call at (530) 898-8670 or (530) 592-8075. Take care and fish on! |

Sacramento River Salmon fishing opened on the 16th and we saw better action this year than the last couple of years. There were more fish caught and we saw several fish rolling. There were also reports of some big fish being caught which could lead us to believe that the theory about last years fish staying out in the ocean for one more year might hold true!! Maybe we will get a double run this year to make up for last year!! Who knows?? Never hurts to think positive! Things will really start to heat up in August and September so book your trips ASAP. I still have prime dates available!! Call to reserve your date (530) 898-8670. Take care... |

It's been a while since my last report. Have spent the last two weeks fishing the Klamath River out of the drift boat for trout. We fish right below Iron Gate and had a great time. The trout are plentifull in this section of river, 20-30 a day is the norm. I can book only multi day trips in this fishery due to the travel, but can provide lodging at a minimal fee. The Shad fishing in the Chico area is winding down, we are now gearing up for Salmon season. The Sacramento River seems to be coming into shape for a great year and starts on July 16th. The Feather has finally received some much needed water and we will be heading over to see if the Salmon have followed the high flows. Please book your Salmon trips ASAP. I still have prime dates available, but they fill up fast! Take care. |

Fishing for Stripers in the Colusa area continues to produce some great fishing. While we are catching a lot of "shakers" there are also still some really nice fish out there. Biggest fish was in the 7-8 lb range today, but but very steady action once we got on the fish. Fish were caught using both cut bait and jumbo minnows. Shad are also beginning to show up in the valley rivers so that should pick up steam in the weeks to come. Start booking your King Salmon trips ASAP as prime dates are filling up fast. Based on Bay reports and counts at the Red Bluff diversion dam, this is shaping up to be a banner year!! |
